Employees of the Police Department for Water Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue anti-poaching measures in the Caspian Sea, in protected areas and water basins that are part of their service territory. According to information provided to Modern.az by the Ministry's Press Service, during the next operation carried out based on incoming information, 38-year-old Xanmurad Xanaliyev was detained for illegally fishing near strategic locations in the Caspian Sea. Although he tried to evade the area with a boat equipped with a special "Yamaha-40" engine when he was being apprehended, it was possible to stop him thanks to the agility of police officers. During the inspection of the boat, 59 fish of various types caught with a synthetic net and prohibited fishing tools were seized. During the next operation carried out by water police in Absheron district together with employees of the Ministry of Agriculture's Fisheries and Aquaculture Center, 51-year-old Vusal Najafguluzade and his peer Tarlan Sattarov, who were engaged in illegal fishing, were also identified and detained. During the investigation, it was determined that they did not have fishing licenses. During the inspection, 93 fish, prohibited synthetic nets, and other hunting tools were seized from these individuals. An investigation is underway regarding both incidents. It should be noted that the moratorium on industrial fishing, imposed due to the fish spawning period, has already ended as of September 1st. It is brought to the attention of those wishing to engage in fishing in state reserves, national parks, seas, and other water basins that it is strictly forbidden to use chemical, poisonous, and explosive substances, as well as hunting tools such as synthetic nets, electric current, and sharp-pointed hooks during fishing. Furthermore, the fight against individuals stealing iron pipelines laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea and wires of various purposes is also continuing. With the aim of protecting aquatic bioresources and ensuring ecological balance, water police, together with relevant state agencies, are regularly scheduled to carry out control measures. Citizens are requested, if they encounter any violation of law in the Caspian Sea and water basins, to call the Police Department for Water Transport at 012-433-38-12 and 012-433-38-02 to report it.
