On September 8, 2025, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received Mohamed Ali Hassan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti.
According to information provided to Modern.az by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, prospects for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Djibouti, and issues of partnership in multilateral formats were discussed.
The broad prospects for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, humanitarian affairs, education, and others were emphasized.
The importance of continuing mutual support and solidarity within the framework of regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, was noted. It was stated that the OIC Summit to be held in our country in 2026 and our chairmanship for the next two years create additional opportunities for cooperation.
During the meeting, the importance of the meeting held in Washington D.C. last month and the agreements reached was noted, and it was brought to attention that our country, as an initiator of the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, will continue its efforts to advance the peace agenda.
Also, during the meeting, an exchange of views was held on other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, political consultations were also held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Djibouti. The political consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev on behalf of Azerbaijan, and by Mohamed Ali Hassan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of Djibouti.
