Measures to combat poaching are being continued by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Police Department for Water Transport in the Caspian Sea, in protected areas and water basins that are within their service territory.

According to information provided by the Ministry's Press Service to Modern.az, during the next operation conducted based on received information, 38-year-old Xanmurad Xanalıyev, who was illegally fishing near strategic locations in the Caspian Sea, was detained.

Although he attempted to evade the area with a special “Yamaha-40” engine-equipped boat during his apprehension, police officers' agility made it possible to stop him. During the inspection of the boat, 59 fish of various types caught with a synthetic net and prohibited fishing equipment were seized.

During the next operation carried out by water police in cooperation with employees of the Ministry of Agriculture's Fisheries and Aquaculture Center in Absheron district, 51-year-old Vüsal Nəcəfquluzadə and his peer Tərlan Səttarov, who were engaged in illegal fishing, were also identified and detained. During the investigation, it was determined that they did not possess fishing licenses. During the inspection, 93 fish, prohibited synthetic nets, and other hunting tools were seized from these individuals. An investigation is underway regarding both incidents.

It should be noted that the moratorium on industrial fishing, imposed due to the fish spawning period, has already ended as of September 1. Those wishing to engage in fishing in state reserves, national parks, seas, and other water basins are informed that the use of chemical, poisonous, and explosive substances, as well as hunting tools such as synthetic nets, electric current, and sharp-pointed hooks, is strictly prohibited during fishing.
Furthermore, the fight against individuals stealing iron pipelines laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea and wires of various purposes is also continuing.

For the purpose of protecting aquatic bioresources and ensuring ecological balance, water police, in cooperation with relevant state bodies, are regularly scheduled to carry out control measures.
Citizens are requested to report any legal violations they encounter in the Caspian Sea and water basins by calling the Police Department for Water Transport at 012-433-38-12 and 012-433-38-02.
