Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Brendan Hanrahan, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, issues arising from the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Strategic Working Group for the preparation of a Strategic Partnership Charter, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest were discussed.
During the meeting, where views were exchanged on the history of Azerbaijan-U.S. relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, including security and energy, it was particularly noted that the high-level visit and contacts held in August of the current year played a significant role in the development of relations.
The importance of the historic agreements reached as a result of the historic Washington meeting, which advanced the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda initiated by our country, including the initialing of a peace treaty and steps taken to dismantle structures remaining from the former conflict, was emphasized.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
