The name of the country with the worst quality of life in the world has been announced.

Modern.az reports that the African country, boasting incredible natural resources and wildlife reserves, has been chosen as the country with the worst quality of life in the world in 2025. The country in question is Nigeria.

According to UN data and World Population Review reports, Nigeria has ranked first, surpassing even war-torn countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Struggling with persistent poverty, severe health issues, poor infrastructure, and environmental degradation, 57 million Nigerians lack access to safe water, and over 130 million people are deprived of adequate sanitation facilities.

At the same time, over 10 million children in the country do not attend school.

The Quality of Life Index measures overall well-being using key factors such as healthcare, cost of living, climate, and more. The higher a country ranks in the index, the higher its standard of living. Nigeria scored only 21.5 points, reflecting its fundamental problems affecting its daily standard of living.

The ranking also includes a weakening economy, as the African country is currently experiencing its worst economic crisis in a generation, leading to widespread hardship and discontent. With annual inflation at approximately 30%, Nigeria faces currency depreciation and rising poverty.

Bangladesh is second on the list of countries with the worst quality of life. Due to factors such as poverty, highly polluted air and water, and inadequate healthcare, this South Asian country scored 73.9 points, 52 points higher than Nigeria.

The top three on the list are completed by oil-rich Venezuela.
