They are not in the political arena, but in many cases, they are in the spotlight. When their fathers or mothers come to the forefront in crucial issues of the country, they themselves also fall within the public's interest. The discussion is about the children of politicians: who are they, what do they do, and how has their parents' influence affected their life paths?
The name Panah Huseyn holds a significant place in the Azerbaijani political arena. He served as State Secretary from May 1992 to April 1993, and as Prime Minister from April to June 1993. From 2005 to 2010, he was a deputy of the 3rd convocation of the Milli Majlis.
Panah Huseyn is the chairman of the Azerbaijan People's Party, established in 1999. This year, on June 16, he entrusted the execution of the party chairman's powers to his deputy, Giyas Sadigov.
The political activities, speeches, and statements of party chairmen always attract attention. A perception has formed in Azerbaijani public opinion that party leaders should be exemplary in many matters, including raising children.
The Modern.az website discusses Panah Huseyn's children in the section "Children of Politicians".
Panah Huseyn has three children: one son and two daughters. His son Vagif was born in 1980. His daughters Gunay and Aybaniz were born in 1982 and 1984, respectively.
All three of Panah Huseyn's children received higher education at Baku State University. They later obtained master's degrees abroad. Two of his children have started families.
"Honestly, my gratitude to God and my pride are my children. My son Vagif graduated from the Faculty of International Law at Baku State University, then completed postgraduate studies at the Academy of Sciences, and subsequently at Istanbul University. There, he defended his scientific work on European Union law and received the title of Doctor of Philosophy. In 2020, he voluntarily went to the Patriotic War. He was awarded the medals "For the Liberation of Fuzuli" and "For the Liberation of Khojavend" by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev," the politician stated.
Panah Huseyn's eldest daughter, Gunay, followed in her father's footsteps, graduating from the Faculty of History at Baku State University, then completing postgraduate studies at the Institute of History of ANAS, and holds a Ph.D. in history.
His youngest daughter, Aybaniz, graduated from the Faculty of Law at Baku State University. She then pursued master's and doctoral studies at Lefkoşa Mediterranean University (Northern Cyprus - ed.). For a period, she worked there as a professor's assistant, teaching international relations theory in English.
What jobs are Panah Huseyn's children currently working in?
The AXP leader stated that his son Vagif Huseyn teaches at several universities and is also the lawyer for the "Yeni Musavat" Media Group. His daughter Gunay is a lecturer at Baku Eurasian University. All three of them, especially Vagif and Gunay, are active in the socio-political sphere. His youngest daughter Aybaniz has also worked on several international projects. She is currently engaged in defending her scientific work.
"All three of them determined their own educational paths, and whatever they have achieved is thanks to their own efforts; my role in these matters has been minimal," the party chairman added.
P. Huseyn shared his wish regarding his children with us:
"When I was in Bayil prison, I wrote letters home. I addressed some of them to my children. After my wife passed away, we published a book in her memory, and those letters were included there. In one of them, I wrote, 'What is essential is neither education, nor position, nor wealth. What is essential is happiness. And I am happy. I have a wife like your mother and children like you. I also wish for you to have spouses like mine and children like yourselves'."
Now Gunay has a happy family with Kenan, and sons named Seljuk and Alper. Vagif also found happiness with Aynur. He is the father of two children named Ismayil and Altay. That is, the formula for human happiness is to have a beautiful family, children, and friends. Aybaniz will also be happy, God willing."
The politician recently welcomed a new grandchild:
"As became clear from what I said above, I had 4 grandchildren, all 4 boys. 4 soldiers. Exactly 50 days ago, my son Vagif and my daughter-in-law Aynur's daughter – Aysu, the beauty of the world – was born, making them 5. She filled my world, which had become empty after her grandmother left us, with her light. Thanks be to God! And I extend the wishes I made for myself and my children to everyone, to all grandparents, to all fathers and mothers, to all sons and daughters. May it come true!"
