High-level debates have begun at the UN headquarters in New York within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Modern.az, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres opened the meeting with an introductory speech.
Then, Annalena Baerbock, this year's President of the UN General Assembly, will deliver a speech. Following this, traditionally, the first speech will be delivered by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Subsequently, US President Donald Trump will take the podium as the host.
At the session dedicated to the theme “Better Together: 80 Years and Beyond for Peace, Development, and Human Rights”, special attention will be paid to topics such as the Russia-Ukraine war, the situation in Gaza, the Palestinian issue, sustainable development goals, and the climate crisis.
The high-level debates will continue until September 30.
