The American Space Agency NASA intends to build a habitable village on the Moon by 2035.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that this was announced by Sean Duffy, acting NASA Administrator, at the International Astronautical Congress held in Sydney.
He noted that within the next decade, NASA aims to create not just a station, but an entire village where people live on the Moon. Duffy added that all conditions for permanent human habitation would be created there.
In February 2026, NASA plans to carry out the Artemis II mission, sending four astronauts on the first trip to the Moon in 50 years. Although a lunar landing is not planned this time, the space agency's ultimate goal is to establish a village there. It is expected to be powered by nuclear energy, capable of permanently accommodating astronauts, and built from materials found on the lunar surface.
