“It will not be possible to fully resolve all problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan without Russia's participation”.

Modern.az reports that Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, stated this at the Moscow – Minsk – Astana – Yerevan – Tashkent – Tbilisi video conference.

"Russia has been and remains a country interested in a stable South Caucasus and in friendly relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan," he emphasized.

Touching upon the implementation of the "Trump route," V. Sabarov said: "This road should serve the development of these states, not the interests of third countries".

According to Dzhabarov, Trump has fulfilled his mission and is no longer interested in what is happening in the region. He emphasized that negotiations are expected, but it is important to respect the interests of both sides.

“Moscow is currently satisfied with the absence of military operations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but the implementation of the proposed “Trump route” raises serious doubts.
I do not think this plan will be easily implemented. Many questions arise, especially considering that the Trump administration is located thousands of kilometers away from the region. Russia, Turkey, and Iran are all here. Therefore, this route should be a path of peace and cooperation beneficial to all parties, including Armenia and Azerbaijan".

The Russian parliamentarian emphasized that the future transport artery should be beneficial to all parties – both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“This should not be a road that benefits one country at the expense of another. A balance of interests must be sought to ensure all parties benefit”.

According to Dzhabarov, Russia's role in ensuring stability in the South Caucasus remains key.

It should be recalled that on August 8, leaders of Armenia, the USA, and Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration on the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Washington.

Armenia will lease the Zangezur corridor, known as the "Trump route" (TRIPP), to the USA for a long term. The USA, in turn, plans to sublease the land area to a consortium responsible for infrastructure and management.
