Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev within the framework of his visit to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“In addition to the previously announced program of the visit to Tajikistan, a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, will also take place”, - Peskov noted.
According to him, the meeting between Putin and Aliyev in Dushanbe will take place today - Thursday. The Kremlin spokesman noted that the main topic on the agenda is bilateral relations.
“The holding of the meeting indicates the two leaders' intention to discuss all pressing issues”, - Peskov added.
It should be noted that the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev in Dushanbe will be the first such large-scale event since October 2024.
It should be recalled that the downing of an Azerbaijani passenger plane in Russian airspace in December 2024 led to a deterioration of relations between the two countries.
