"If the current head of the White House ensures a ceasefire in Ukraine, we will nominate President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize".
Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a meeting with journalists on October 9.
He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin fears a ceasefire because it is difficult for him to return to war from a ceasefire.
"It is not easy for them to transition from a large-scale war to a ceasefire and then restart a large-scale war. It is difficult economically, difficult from a societal perspective, difficult from a peace perspective. And in relation to countries that still shake their hand, this is, of course, not easy", - Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, these are the reasons why it is so difficult for Americans to compel the Russian president to engage in real negotiations, and therefore, Putin currently chooses war.
Zelenskyy emphasized that if pressure on Russia increases, the war could end.
Donald Trump has repeatedly and openly stated that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his mediation efforts in various international conflicts.
In August, the White House nominated the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling him the “president of peace”.
It should be recalled that Armenia and Azerbaijan also nominated the head of the White House for this prestigious award.
