US First Lady Melania Trump announced that she had responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's letter regarding Ukrainian children allegedly abducted.
“Much has happened since President Putin received my letter in August. He provided a written response to the letter, expressed his readiness to communicate directly with me, and provided detailed information regarding Ukrainian children in Russia. Since then, a channel of communication has been opened between President Putin and me,” Melania said.
According to Modern.az, the US First Lady also stated that she hopes peace will soon be established in Ukraine.
Melania Trump stated that her representative is working directly with the Russian President's team.
“My representative is working directly with President Putin's team to ensure the safe reunification of children with their families.”
It was previously reported that Melania Trump, in a letter addressed to Putin, asked the Russian leader to protect children from war by establishing peace. US President Donald Trump conveyed Mrs. Melania's message to the Russian leader during a meeting in Alaska.
Speaking about Putin's reaction to Melania's letter, Trump stated that the Russian leader received the letter from the US First Lady very well.
In August, Trump published the text of Melania's letter. Through the letter, Melania called on Putin to protect children. According to her, now is the time for this.
On September 24, Melania Trump met with Ukrainian First Lady Yelena Zelenskaya in New York, within the framework of the UN General Assembly. The presidents' wives discussed common values and the protection of children.
Zelenskaya also thanked Melania for the letter Donald Trump gave to Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
