“The book I was writing about my late pen-friend Sirus Tabrizli remained unfinished. We would meet often and have extensive conversations – I would record what he said and turn it into literary sentences. He kept no secrets from me.”
Modern.az reports that writer-journalist Arshad Azimzade stated this while discussing the past conflict between former MP Sirus Tabrizli and academician Ramiz Mehdiyev.
According to him, Sirus Tabrizli once told him that he had complained about Ramiz Mehdiyev to Heydar Aliyev:
“He once said this: “The Great Leader would periodically gather YAP activists at the Presidential Administration to learn our opinions. One time I said: “Mr. Heydar, do you know that one of those sitting here is undermining you day and night?” He asked with interest: “Who is it, Sirus?” Pointing to Ramiz Mehdiyev, who was sitting like a lamb, suppressing his voice, I said: “This head of the Administration whom you took from the garbage dump and turned into the second person in the country.” Mr. Heydar's answer greatly surprised me: “I know, Sirus. I am aware.” I was astonished: “If he knows, then why doesn't he dismiss him?” Later I learned that the Kremlin was behind Anvarovich. He is the chief of the pro-Russian forces here.”
According to A. Azimzade, one of the two YAP members whom Sirus Tabrizli deeply hated, or rather, the first one, was Ramiz Mehdiyev.
“He used to say that I left YAP because of these people”...
Sirus Tabrizli, a healthy individual who swam for 2 hours at a time in the sea every day in the winter frost, mysteriously passed away at his country house from a “heart defect,” raising many questions.”
