The results of the investigation into the crash of the AZAL-owned “Embraer-190” aircraft in Kazakhstan may be announced after the new year.
According to Modern.az, this was stated by Kanat Bozumbayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
He recalled that he heads the state commission investigating the incident and stated that the investigation is currently ongoing:
“The standard duration for such investigations is approximately one year, sometimes it can take a little longer. Work is being carried out in this manner,” he noted while answering journalists' questions in parliament.
A Kazakh official stated in August that the final report on the crash of the aircraft belonging to “Azerbaijan Airlines” would be submitted within a few months. At that time, the aircraft's avionics (aviation electronics-ed.) module had been sent to the USA for expert examination.
The Kazakh side continues its joint investigations with international experts to fully clarify the causes of the incident.
It should be recalled that on December 25, 2024, an "Embraer" passenger aircraft belonging to "Azerbaijan Airlines", operating the Baku-Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan. There were 67 people on board the aircraft, including 5 crew members. As a result of the crash, 38 people, including citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, died. The aircraft crashed after being shot down over Russia.
It should be noted that on October 9 this year, a one-on-one meeting was held in Dushanbe between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again apologized to President Ilham Aliyev regarding the AZAL aircraft.
He noted that it is important to give an objective assessment of the aircraft crash.
"Our duty is to objectively assess everything that happened and determine the true causes. However, this requires a certain amount of time. To bring this matter to a conclusion, more time is probably needed,” President Putin added.
