US President Donald Trump has given instructions for the resumption of nuclear weapons tests in the country.
Modern.az reports that he announced this on his "Truth Social" account.
Trump noted that this decision is a response to tests conducted by other countries, particularly Russia and China.
“We have more nuclear weapons than anyone else. If others are conducting tests, I think it would be appropriate for us to do so as well. The process will begin immediately,” Trump said.
P, stated that the location and timing of the tests would be announced in the coming days: “We have test sites, and separate information will be provided regarding this.”
Trump emphasized that the US nuclear arsenal was modernized during his first presidential term.
The decision was made a few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement regarding the tests of new nuclear systems named "Burevestnik" and "Poseidon". The US has not conducted a full-scale nuclear explosion since 1992.
