Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan believes that Azerbaijan's desire and will are necessary to sign a peace agreement.

Modern.az referring to Armenian media, reports that Simonyan said this in a statement to journalists:

"I believe that we are very close to signing the peace agreement".

The Speaker disagreed with claims that Azerbaijan had put forward preconditions for signing the peace agreement. He said that this stemmed more from concern.

“They are concerned, they want everything to be officially documented, because life is unpredictable and they must ensure that a new war does not start tomorrow or the day after. In fact, this is good will", he noted.

According to Simonyan, it is clear to the world and the Azerbaijani side that Armenia has also done its best to ensure peace.

"Peace is fragile, but it has been established. We will do our best to ensure that peace is enshrined in the final agreement and, most importantly, that it exists on the ground. Look, this is almost incredible: we have not fired at each other for almost two years; this has not happened since independence", he emphasized.

According to A. Simonyan, time is needed for the Armenians of Karabakh to be able to return whenever they wish.

It should be recalled that Azerbaijan has put forward the condition of amending the Armenian Constitution for the signing of a peace agreement. The preamble of that constitution contains territorial claims to Karabakh.
