The Armenian press continues to write about the visit of the Armenian delegation to Baku, which took place on November 21-22. The President of the Yerevan Press Club, Boris Navasardyan, political scientists Areq Kochinyan, Narek Minasyan, Samvel Meliksetyan, and human rights activist Naira Sultanyan participated in this visit, which took happened within the framework of the "Peace Bridge" initiative.
Modern.az reports that Farhad Mammadov, director of the South Caucasus Research Center and political scientist, who accompanied the Armenians in Baku, shared some details regarding the visit of the Armenian delegation.
According to him, Armenian NGO representatives also visited the Armenian church in Baku.
"Considering that the Armenian delegation had not visited Baku in the last 10 years, everything aroused interest. They saw that the church was protected by the state as an Armenian church.”
The book collection of the Presidential Library, housed in the church in Baku – approximately 5000 books in Armenian – was also shown to the Armenians.
The excursion was led by Jale Gurbanli, a library specialist born in Yerevan and fluent in Armenian.
During the walk in Baku, an interesting incident occurred: two representatives of Baku's older generation recognized members of the Armenian delegation. It turned out that one of the elderly Azerbaijanis who recognized the Armenians was originally from Yerevan. He spoke in Armenian with Boris Navasardyan and his companions, inquiring about the neighborhood where he once lived in Yerevan.
F. Mammadov recalled that Boris Navasardyan, a member of the Armenian delegation, had been in Baku before the war, participating in various forums and events, but the remaining members of the delegation visited Azerbaijan for the first time.
It should be recalled that the Azerbaijani delegation visited Yerevan on October 21-22 within the framework of the "Peace Bridge" initiative.
