Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, participated in the VII meeting of ministers responsible for media and information of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Modern.az reports that he met with TÜRKPA Secretary General Ramil Hasan and Turkey's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgün.
Minister Ertuğruloğlu gave an exclusive statement to “MediaTürk TV” and Modern.az.
Speaking about his contacts in Baku, Ertuğruloğlu emphasized that Azerbaijan is a state of vital importance for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and expressed his satisfaction at being in Baku. The minister, speaking about the importance of the Joint Media Summit within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, noted that these efforts contribute to Northern Cyprus remaining on the agenda in the Turkic world and strengthen cooperation.
Ertuğruloğlu stated that partnership in the media sector holds strategic importance:
“The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is ready for the mechanisms created within the framework of the OTS and for cooperation in the media sector. We believe that this step will strengthen the cooperation of the Turkic world and contribute to the creation of a balanced, objective environment in the field of information. In the age of digital propaganda and disinformation, it is extremely important to conduct professional training programs and develop the skills of journalists and young content creators. Northern Cyprus is ready to contribute to these efforts and actively participate in joint projects. Joint activities will further increase the media power of the Turkic world and cause our voice to resonate more strongly in the international arena.”
A dinner was organized in honor of Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, by Cavanşir Feyziyev, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Azerbaijan-Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus inter-parliamentary working group. Azerbaijani deputies also attended the dinner.
During Ertuğruloğlu's visit to Baku, he was accompanied by Mustafa Lakadamyalı, Advisor to the Ministry, Ufuk Turganer, Baku Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Third Secretary Görkem Rəis, and Mert Efekan, responsible for press and information.
