The 7th Media Forum, held in Baku within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), is regarded as an important platform for strengthening media cooperation in the Turkic world.
Modern.az reports that Dr. Emel Yılmaz, international relations representative of Cyprus American University (CAU), who participated in the forum, drew attention to the strategic importance of the event for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In her speech, Dr. Emel Yılmaz emphasized that the gathering of OTS media not only strengthens information exchange but also creates a strong synergy in defending the common interests of the Turkic world. According to her, the representation of TRNC on these platforms is of particular importance both for political visibility and for making its voice heard in the international arena.
“TRNC's presence within the OTS family and its ability to have a say in such forums both strengthens its integration with the Turkic world and increases informative solidarity on the Cyprus issue.” – stated Dr. Yılmaz.
Dr. Emel Yılmaz noted that the exchange of views among media representatives within the forum would contribute to the establishment of a more coordinated information policy in the future, and stated that Cyprus American University is also ready to provide academic and institutional support in this direction.
The university representative particularly noted that at a time when the fight against disinformation is on the agenda, strengthening cooperation among OTS media institutions is of vital importance for both TRNC and all Turkic states.
It should be noted that media leaders, journalists, and academics from various countries participating in the forum held extensive discussions on topics such as information security, media ethics, and strengthening common news sources.
