The "Bloomberg" agency reported that Turkey is considering opening its land border with Armenia within the next six months. The agency cited unnamed sources when disseminating the information.

It is noted that this step would mean the elimination of the last closed border line remaining from the "Cold War" era in Europe, and this could change the trade and communication map in the South Caucasus.

Modern.az learned Turkey's stance on the issue.

In a statement to our website, **Şamil Ayrım**, Chairman of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship Group of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), stated that the news circulating about the opening of borders with Armenia within 6 months is disinformation:

“The war between Azerbaijan and Armenia has ended. Azerbaijan has liberated its territories from occupation. However, Azerbaijan had two important conditions for Armenia after the war: the dissolution of the Minsk Group and amendments to the Armenian constitution. The Armenian constitution contains a territorial claim regarding Karabakh belonging to Armenia, which Azerbaijan cannot accept. Currently, certain work is underway in this direction.

The dialogues between Mr. Ilham Aliyev and Mr. Nikol Pashinyan are at a good level. One must wait for that. Turkey would not say "I am opening the borders with Armenia" despite Azerbaijan. News circulating in this direction should be considered false and disinformation. If there is no statement from the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, then all news in this regard is false”.
