US House of Representatives member Anna Paulina Luna has introduced a bill aimed at completely repealing the 907th amendment. Information about this has already been posted on the Congress website.
It should be recalled that this amendment restricts the United States from providing military and financial assistance to Azerbaijan.
After the repeal of the 907th amendment, the level of military relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, and which weapons Azerbaijan will purchase from the US, are noteworthy points.
In a statement to Modern.az, military expert Adalat Verdiyev stated that a sufficiently positive dynamic is observed in relations between Azerbaijan and the current US Administration:
"The level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States is being further expanded. Naturally, the introduction of a bill by Anna Paulina Luna, representing the Republican Party, in the House of Representatives for the complete repeal of the 907th amendment is a sufficiently positive step and is, of course, supported by the Azerbaijani side. The complete repeal of such an amendment will lead to a further expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in many areas, including defense, security, and military-technical fields."

The military expert noted that in the future, the acquisition and joint production of necessary weapons may come onto the agenda:
"It is still too early to talk specifically about which weapons or equipment will be sold. However, in the future, the acquisition and joint production of necessary weapons may come onto the agenda. I believe that in the current situation, the US can cooperate more closely with Azerbaijan in the Caspian basin and on the border with Iran for border security and the prevention of drug trafficking. There are no obstacles to this."
Security expert Ilham Ismayil, however, believes that in the future, it may be possible to acquire weapons that are not prohibited for sale and are necessary for us:
"The US has certain restrictions on weapon sales. For example, the US does not provide all its weapons to non-NATO member countries. They have a large military-industrial complex. Today, the US sells weapons to Ukraine; it does not gift them. It is entirely possible to acquire weapons that we need and for which there are no sales restrictions. The main thing is for this amendment to be repealed. We can apply in the future to purchase weapons needed to enhance our defense capabilities."

The expert stated that it is not possible to speak concretely about which weapons will be sold to Azerbaijan in the future:
"It is not possible to talk in advance about whether we will be given F-16s, or in which project we might participate in the future. Turkey is participating in the F-35 project, but these fighters have not yet been delivered to the brotherly country. The most important issue is the repeal of the amendment itself. The repeal of the 907th amendment is proof of improved relations between the US and Azerbaijan, and this is a more crucial nuance."
