During holidays, tables are usually rich with various dishes. Experts say that the main goal in the current period is not to restrict ourselves, but to regulate nutrition correctly and in a balanced way.

Considering the importance of proper nutrition during holidays, Modern.az interviewed food expert Farid Safarov

He stated that one of the main conditions for proper nutrition is not to sit at the table hungry.

“Consuming a light salad or fruit before the holiday meal prevents overeating. Eating meals slowly and in small portions is also an important point. This is because the stomach needs a certain amount of time to transmit the satiety signal to the brain. Consuming fatty and heavy foods together with vegetable salads also relatively facilitates digestion, and in addition, it is recommended to maintain at least a 2-3 hour break between meals.”

The expert added that some foods are considered particularly harmful at New Year and other holiday tables:

“Very fatty fried foods, sausage and frankfurter products, mayonnaise-based salads, sweet carbonated drinks, and excessive sweets place a serious burden on the stomach. Alcohol consumption can also lead to bloating, lethargy, and various digestive problems.”

According to the expert, to regulate the table in a healthier way, preference should be given to fresh vegetables, greens, and light salads:

“Choosing oven-baked or steamed options instead of fried ones for meat dishes both reduces calories and facilitates digestion. Furthermore, bread and sweets should be consumed in small quantities, and drinking water should not be forgotten. Water both regulates the feeling of satiety and improves the digestion process.

It should not be forgotten that a holiday is for one day, but health is permanent. With moderate and conscious nutrition, it is possible to both enjoy the holiday and protect the p.

Eat healthy and live healthy!”, said F. Safarov.
