In Turkey, annual inflation fell to 30.9 percent in December, slowing for the third consecutive month.

Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that economists' forecast was 31 percent. Monthly inflation, however, remained at 0.9 percent, close to expectations.

According to the information, this could create conditions for the Central Bank of Turkey to continue cutting interest rates in 2026.

A decrease in clothing and transport prices had a positive impact on the December figure. However, food prices increased by 2 percent during the month, creating pressure on inflation.

Core inflation (excluding food and energy prices) fell from 31.65 percent to 31.1 percent — this is the lowest figure in the last 4 years.

A sharper decrease in inflation is expected in January. The reasons for this are cited as the government's moderate tax increases and a 27 percent increase in the minimum wage for 2026.
