Detained protester in Iran will be executed

A death sentence has been issued against Erfan Soltani, who was detained within the framework of the ongoing protests in Iran.

Modern.az reports that 26-year-old E. Soltani will be executed on January 14.

It was reported that he was detained on January 9 in the city of Karaj. Furthermore, the charges brought against him are unknown.

It should be recalled that protests in Iran have been ongoing since December 28. Initially, protesters demonstrated against the economic situation in the country and the depreciation of the national currency, but events later took on a political character. 

According to “Reuters” news agency, it has been confirmed that 490 protesters and 48 members of security forces have died during the protests. Additionally, over 10,600 people have been arrested in the protests that have lasted for two weeks.(Qafqazinfo)
