Based on a bilateral agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia, 4 Armenians convicted on various charges in Azerbaijan have been handed over to Armenia.
According to information from Modern.az, these are Khachaturyan Vagif Cherkezi, Sujyan Gevorg Rubenovich, Davtyan David Tigrani, and Euljekjian Viken Abraham. They were found guilty under various articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and were serving sentences in the country.
The Armenian convicts were handed over to the authorized bodies of the Republic of Armenia via the Hakari bridge. The Azerbaijani side justified this process with the principles of humanism and presents it as a practical result of the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in his statement on the matter that, according to initial medical examinations, Gevorg Sujyan, David Davtyan, and Vigen Euljekjian have no health problems. According to Pashinyan, Vagif Khachatryan's health condition is also initially assessed as satisfactory.
It should be noted that the Armenian press regularly reported that Vigen Euljekjian and Vagif Khachatryan were in poor health and could die in Azerbaijani prisons any day.
Vigen Euljekjian's wife, who is a Lebanese Armenian, claimed in her statements to the foreign press that her husband's legs were paralyzed and he could not walk.
Pashinyan confirmed with his statement today that these claims were false.
