The Main State Traffic Police Department has appealed to drivers regarding the expected unstable weather conditions.
Information on this was provided to Modern.az by the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was stated that, according to information from the National Hydrometeorology Service, from January 17 to 22, weather conditions in the country's territory are expected to be rainy again, with snow expected in some areas:
"During the week that is coming to an end, against the backdrop of difficulties created on roads by snow falling in mountainous and foothill regions, the renewed deterioration of weather conditions requires road users to be more cautious and prepared. Particularly, the possibility of roads icing over in the morning and evening hours should not be overlooked in areas where snow has not melted, as well as in open, wind-exposed areas, on uphill and downhill roads, and on bridges.
Traffic Police (DYP) employees, together with relevant agencies, are taking preventive measures to eliminate the complications that rainy weather conditions may create on roads and to ensure the safe movement of road users.
In addition, the Main State Traffic Police Department, taking into account the expected increase in traffic intensity on highways, especially during the weekend, asks drivers preparing for a trip in the coming days not to forget the possibility of roads icing over; from a technical safety perspective - especially not to set out with vehicles equipped with unsuitable or non-seasonal tires; inexperienced drivers not to get behind the wheel; and physical and legal entities engaged in passenger transportation to prefer movement along safer routes".
