The electricity infrastructure of Kalbajar district, characterized by its harsh climate and high mountainous terrain in Azerbaijan, is being reconstructed.

Modern.az reports, citing "Azerishig" OJSC, that despite snowy and frosty weather conditions, the joint-stock company operates continuously in areas above 3,000 meters.

Kalbajar city has been supplied with electricity since July 18, 2021. 35 kV insulated overhead lines are being laid to the most remote mountain villages of Kalbajar, and new power centers are being established. 35 kV double-circuit Self-Supporting Insulated Wires (SSIW-3) have been laid to strategic facilities located in the villages of Alagollar, Zaylik, and Zod, and to the "Istisu" mineral water plant, and transformer substations have been installed.

Additionally, the laying of 35 kV lines to the villages of Zallar, Yanshag, Keshdak, Zar, Gamishli, and Chaykand has been completed. The opening of the 110/35 kV "Istisu" substation, built in Istisu settlement, took place on September 2, 2024, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. To ensure a stable electricity supply for families relocating to Kalbajar, the 0.4 kV electricity network has been reconstructed.

"Azerishig" is renovating the electricity infrastructure in a number of villages and settlements across all regions of the country. The work carried out aims to ensure an uninterrupted and high-quality electricity supply for citizens and to minimize electricity losses.
