Modern.az sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Health's Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation to ascertain the total number of people awaiting organ transplantation for 2025 and the number of individuals whose post-mortem organ donation consent has been confirmed to date.
In response to Modern.az's inquiry, the Center stated that the total number of people awaiting organ transplantation for 2025 has exceeded 1000:
"The statistical distribution of which specific organs these individuals are awaiting transplantation for (e.g., kidney, liver, heart, etc.) is approximately as follows:
Kidney transplantation – over 400 people
Liver transplantation – approximately 180 people
Heart transplantation – approximately 30 people
Bone marrow transplantation – over 500 people
Cornea transplantation – approximately 20 people.
It should also be noted that the number of individuals who have signed an official consent form for post-mortem organ donation to date is approximately 1200."
