The Baku Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ufuk Turganer, stated that they aim to further develop relations with Azerbaijan in diplomatic, political, economic, cultural, educational, tourism, and all other fields.
Modern.az reports that Turganer evaluated the current state and future expectations of TRNC–Azerbaijan relations to an AA correspondent:
"Emphasizing the great importance they attach to relations with the brotherly country Azerbaijan, Turganer noted that they are highly satisfied with the progress of relations between the two countries along an ascending and developing trajectory."
Turganer specifically noted that the support provided by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people is extremely important, stating that the support of the heads of state makes a significant contribution to the development of relations:
“There are instructions given to us by the heads of state. We are working within this framework to further develop relations between our countries,” – he added.
Emphasizing that 2025 was extremely productive in terms of Azerbaijan–TRNC relations, Turganer stated that TRNC ministers participated in events organized by the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Azerbaijan. He noted:
“We aim to further advance our relations in diplomatic, political, economic, cultural, educational, tourism, and all other fields. As President Ilham Aliyev also stated, ‘Our family is the Turkic world,’ and we attach great importance to this family. As representatives of the Turkish Cypriot people, an inseparable part of the Turkic world family, we will continue our activities with all our strength in 2026 as well. We will work for the further advancement of relations between the two brotherly countries.”

Turganer recalled that they became an observer member of the OTS thanks to the unconditional support of the motherland Turkey and the brotherly country Azerbaijan, and said:
“We attach great importance to the OTS. The OTS is an important platform for us to express ourselves and once again voice our just cause in the Turkic world.”
Turganer stated that in 2026, they will give more priority to cultural events in Azerbaijan, ensuring that Turkish Cypriot culture is more closely introduced there, and added, “The official invitation and visit of our President Tufan Erhürman to Azerbaijan is among our expectations. At the same time, the invitation of the Speaker of the TRNC Republican Assembly by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan is also of great importance to us,” he noted.
