The training program “Academic Development and Innovative Teaching”, launched in November at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), has been successfully completed.

It was reported to Modern.az from UNEC that the main objective of the program, organized for the university's pedagogical staff by the Department of Educational and Training Excellence, was to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in modern teaching methodology, innovative educational technologies, and digital competencies.

At the event, Sanubar Safiyeva, Head of the Department of Educational and Training Excellence, stated that the training program, which covered 100 UNEC teachers, not only contributed to their professional development but also strengthened networking among teachers and created a new platform for discussions and debates.

The trainings covered “Key Principles of Teaching and Pedagogical Values”, “Syllabus Design and Course Design”, “Assessment and Rubrics”, “Digital Literacy and Preparation of Teaching Materials with Artificial Intelligence”, “Student-Centered Teaching Methods” and other relevant topics.

Speaking at the event, Professor Adalat Muradov, the university's rector, emphasized that these trainings, held for the first time, served to strengthen teachers' direct teaching skills rather than their knowledge in specific fields.

The rector noted that rapidly changing technologies do not bypass the field of education, and this reality necessitates teachers acquiring digital skills: “Digital solutions enhance a teacher's power. Teachers who acquire these skills become stronger and can present their knowledge to the audience more effectively”.

Adalat Muradov stated that UNEC has already transitioned to a project-based teaching model, and this approach will be gradually implemented in other faculties as well. At the same time, the expansion of the “Flipped Classroom” model is also planned.

Touching upon the issue of differentiation and grading of teachers' salaries, the rector noted that in the future, teachers' salary increases will be directly linked to their development level and self-development activities.

Training participants speaking at the event discussed the importance of the program.

Finally, certificates were presented to the training participants.
