The trial of Mammad Mammadzade (Mammad Alpay), head of the "Election Observation" Alliance, has begun.
Modern.az reports that today, at the Baku Court for Grave Crimes, during the proceedings chaired by Judge Mahira Karimova, the personal data was clarified.
The motions filed by the defendant's lawyer, Rovshana Rahimli, regarding the selection of house arrest as a preventive measure for M. Mammadzade, and if that is not possible, for him to sit next to his lawyer, and for filming to be conducted during the proceedings, were not granted.
The criminal case has been submitted for court review, and the review hearing has been scheduled for February 5.
It should be noted that Mammad Mammadzade has been charged under Articles 313 (Official forgery), 193-1.3.2 (Legalization of criminally obtained funds or other property, committed in a significant amount), and 308.2 (Abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code, and by the decision of the Binagadi District Court on March 14 of this year, a preventive measure of arrest was chosen against him.
