On the occasion of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty", the decision of the Milli Majlis dated December 19, 2025, on the declaration of amnesty has been applied to 12,336 individuals by the Penitentiary and Probation services of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the Investigation Department, from December 22 to January 26.
Modern.az reports that information on this matter was provided by the Press Service of the Ministry of Justice.
Of the individuals to whom amnesty was applied, 4,977 were released from imprisonment for a certain period, and 6,613 were released from penalties not related to imprisonment. In addition, the sentences of 734 individuals convicted of imprisonment were reduced by 6 months. And 12 individuals were released from criminal liability (under the investigative jurisdiction of judicial bodies).
Among those serving sentences in penitentiary institutions, 13 individuals were released from punishment for participating in the Patriotic War, and 13 individuals were also released for reaching the age of 60 by the date the decision came into force.
Of the individuals to whom amnesty was applied, 1,021 committed crimes that do not pose a great public danger, 10,502 committed less serious crimes, and 813 committed serious crimes.
In total, of the individuals to whom amnesty was applied, 11,761 are men (17 of whom are minors), and 575 are women.
