"Qarabağ" club will face "Liverpool" club today at 00:00 in the “Enfield” stadium within the VIII round of the Champions League.
Has "Qarabağ" club, which has always shown special sensitivity to martyr families, put forward any initiative regarding the children of martyrs within the Champions League?
Regarding this, Modern.az received a statement from Sevinc Orucov, the chairwoman of the “Zəfər” Public Union for Support to Martyr Families. The chairwoman stated that she has a long-term and close cooperation with Qurban Qurbanov, the head coach of Qarabağ football club, and the club management.
According to her, meetings between the children of martyrs and team members have been organized numerous times at the training base of Qarabağ club to date. Within the framework of these aforementioned meetings, commemorative gifts were presented to the children of martyrs, and they were invited to the team's matches. The children of martyrs had the opportunity to watch both training sessions and official matches live from the stadium.
S.Orucova noted that this cooperation is not a one-time event and continues to this day:
“We are confident that this cooperation will continue in the future. Because meeting with members of the Qarabağ team, taking commemorative photos, receiving gifts, and participating in matches are among the greatest wishes of every martyr's child. We constantly work and strive for the realization of these wishes”.
The chairwoman of the Public Union specifically emphasized Qurban Qurbanov's patriotic stance:
“The respect and reverence shown by Mr. Qurban towards martyrs and the name of martyrs have always been clearly evident. One striking example of this was related to Ali, the son of martyred Lieutenant Colonel Vidadi Xəlilov. Ali loved football very much and had expressed his wish to meet Mr. Qurban to us. After we conveyed this wish to Qurban Qurbanov, he gathered the entire team and created conditions for the meeting to be organized. Ali was invited to the training base, and this meeting left an indelible mark on his memory”.
According to S.Orucova, Qarabağ FK, under the leadership of Qurban Qurbanov, consistently demonstrates high reverence for the memory of martyrs. She evaluated the display of posters of martyred commander Allahverdi Bağırov during matches as a clear manifestation of this respect.
It was stated that after the martyrdom of General Raquf Orucov, Qarabağ's match in the UEFA Champions League qualification round coincided with his birthday, and a large poster in memory of Raquf Orucov was displayed during that match.
“The Qarabağ football team is not just a sports club. The club's structure, management, and moral spirit are formed on respect for Azerbaijan's national values and our martyrs. This gives us great pride and moral comfort”, - S.Orucova emphasized.
The chairwoman of the union also noted that it was not possible for the children of martyrs to appear on the field during the Champions League matches this year. According to her, discussions were held with the club management regarding this issue:
“Champions League matches are under UEFA's control, and special permissions and certain conditions are required for this. For this reason, it is not always possible to take steps related to such sensitive topics”.
