"Currently, targeted state social assistance payments are provided to 179,618 children from low-income families".

Modern.az reports that Babek Huseynov, Head of the Social Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, stated this during the discussion of the newly drafted "On Children's Rights" bill at a meeting of the Family, Women and Children Affairs Committee of the Milli Majlis.

The Ministry official stated that in the new bill, a child is no longer recognized only as a recipient of social assistance, but as a legal subject with the right to social security:

"As a result of the reintegration measures implemented, 275 children were prevented from entering institutions in 2025, and 176 children were returned from institutions to their families. As of 01.01.2026, a total of over 128,000 children are provided with social payments by the Ministry, including 44,200 children with disabilities, 67,000 children who have lost a family head, 13,200 children of women with more than five children, 3,200 children under 1 year old from low-income families, 647 children of military personnel serving in fixed-term active military service, as well as 42 adopted children, and 47 children placed in foster families".

It should be noted that currently, an allowance of 140 manats per child is paid to the children of military personnel serving in fixed-term active military service.(Unikal.az)
