Baku Engineering University (BMU) has achieved a successful result in the “QS Europe 2026” ranking table, announced by “Quacquarelli Symonds” (QS), a prestigious international analytical agency in the field of higher education.
Modern.az reports that BMU, which once again took its place in the ranking of Europe's best universities, advanced 96 places compared to last year, rising to the 395th position.
Among West Asian universities (QS Western Asia 2026), BMU advanced 11 places compared to last year, settling in 23rd place.
A total of 958 higher education institutions from Europe were included in the new ranking. In the ranking table, along with BMU, 15 universities from our country, 6 of which are for the first time, were included. BMU ranks 5th in the country.
This is a clear indicator of the continuous development achieved by the university in the areas of teaching, scientific research, internationalization, reputation among employers, and alumni achievements over the past two years. Thus, BMU demonstrated a significant overall rise of 156 places in the QS Europe ranking over the last two years, advancing 60 places in the 2025 ranking table and 96 places in 2026.
The significant rise in BMU's position in the ranking is the result of a purposeful strategy implemented towards improving the quality of higher education, applying modern teaching methods, strengthening student exchange, and international collaborations. This achievement once again confirms the university's recognition and increased competitiveness within the European higher education area.
The ranking was determined based on a total of 12 indicators (recognition of universities in academic and employer communities, contribution to research work, quality of the educational environment, internationalization, academic mobility, commitment to sustainable development, etc.).
