Artificial intelligence, considered a new stage of digital technologies, is already changing not only the technological field but also the socio-economic life of society. In particular, the impacts created by this technology in the labor market actualize discussions about the future of professions.
Experts note that artificial intelligence changes not only the number of jobs but also the quality of work and the demands in the labor market. Thus, new challenges emerge for both employees and employers.
Elvin Abbasov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Information and Communication Technologies Industry Association, giving a statement to Modern.az on the topic, stated that artificial intelligence has not yet completely eliminated any profession, neither in Azerbaijan nor globally:
“Currently, artificial intelligence models are simply used as an auxiliary tool in various tasks. Specifically, for today, the best work AI can do is proofreading and translation. But let's look at international statistics. There is still a high demand for proofreaders and translators.”
E. Abbasov is of the opinion that thanks to smart technology, professions will change and be redesigned in the future. The probability of new ones emerging is also very high:
“Let's look at industrial revolutions. Vehicles moved by p muscle and horsepower were replaced by automobiles. Concurrently, hundreds of professions related to manufacturing automobile parts emerged. Within the next 5-10 years, I consider the impact of artificial intelligence on many professions, or rather, all professions, to be inevitable. The consumption of human labor will decrease. But as I mentioned, new fields will emerge,” he said.
