France had opposed until the very end the discussions to declare Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization in Europe. However, Paris later reversed its decision under pressure from other European Union (EU) countries.
Modern.az reports that Europe's "Politico" publication disseminated information about this, citing its own sources.
According to the publication, in addition to France, Spain and Italy had also refused to oppose the IRGC until recently. Subsequently, diplomats from other countries managed to win over Rome and Madrid, leaving France isolated.
It should be recalled that EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas wrote yesterday on "X" that EU foreign ministers have taken a decisive step by recognizing the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
