The preparatory hearing has commenced in the civil lawsuit filed against Lieutenant General Ayaz Hasanov, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and former Head of the Main Operations Department.
Modern.az reports that during the proceedings chaired by Judge Habiba Miriyeva at the Nasimi District Court, the questionnaire data was clarified. Subsequently, the plaintiff, former judge and current lawyer Rafiq Abbasov, informed the court that after retiring, he contacted intermediaries to purchase a summer house: “I looked at websites related to house sales. A house in Novkhani appeared, and I contacted them. We met and went to see the house. When we arrived at the house, the lights went out, and we viewed the house by the light of a phone flashlight. We also looked at the pool, summer kitchen, and well in the yard. The structures in the yard were in disrepair. Later, problems with the pool also emerged. The well was shared with the neighbor. These things had not been told to me. Ayaz Hasanov promised to rectify the deficiencies in the house. We had a discussion. A craftsman came and inspected it. When I informed Ayaz Hasanov about this, he told me, “I am done,” meaning, do not bother me.”
Subsequently, the defendant Ayaz Hasanov responded to the claims. He stated that he decided to sell his summer house in Novkhani because he needed money: “For this, I contacted several real estate agents and also posted it on sales websites. Then the real estate agent said there was a client. I gave permission, and they went to see the house. A few hours later, the real estate agent called and said that they liked the house, but the price was too high. I, however, did not agree to a low price.”
The defendant stated that they inspected the house on June 13 of last year: “A few hours later, the real estate agent called me and said that Mr. Rafiq wanted to inspect the roof as well. I told him to go and look. He had gone and looked. The next morning, we met, discussed, and agreed. He gave a deposit, and we signed a contract at the notary. One month was given to vacate the house. A little later, Mr. Rafiq said that he had bought new furniture for the house and that the items needed to be removed. I then placed the items in a temporary storage room and sold them for next to nothing. As for the problem with the pool, there was an issue with the mosaic. We called a craftsman. The craftsman said it could be resolved. And so we did.”
The plaintiff added that the opposing party did not fulfill its promise regarding the house's repair. The defendant filed a motion to summon the real estate agent and the security guard as witnesses to the proceedings. The plaintiff did not object to this.
The court granted the motion and requested a power of attorney for the contract. The parties stated that they would submit the power of attorney at the next hearing.
The next court session has been scheduled for March 18.
