A Board meeting of the Ministry of Defense on the results of 2025 was held under the leadership of Minister of Defense Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.

Modern.az reports that the Ministry of Defense issued a statement regarding this.

At the meeting, held via video conference with the participation of deputy ministers, commanders of military branches (forces), the Commander of the Combined Arms Army, the Rector of the National Defense University, heads of main departments and departments, commanders of military units and formations, and representatives of relevant state bodies, the results of work carried out in the current year were analyzed and tasks for 2026 were discussed.

The Minister of Defense spoke about the successful reforms implemented in the field of army building in 2025 under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and conveyed the tasks set by the Commander-in-Chief before the Army to the participants. He specifically noted the important role of Azerbaijan's defense potential in the continuous rise of Azerbaijan's international prestige and its transformation into a global power center in the region.

Colonel General Z. Hasanov proudly stated that the exemplary discipline and military might, as well as the technical provision, demonstrated at the Military Parade dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War, which the Azerbaijan Army conducted jointly with other structures of the Armed Forces on November 8 - Victory Day, were highly appreciated by the Victorious Commander-in-Chief.

The Minister of Defense stated that, in accordance with the instructions of the head of state, measures are consistently and successfully implemented towards organizing the armed defense of our country's territorial integrity, reliably ensuring military security, increasing the operational capabilities and combat readiness of the troops, as well as incorporating modern weapon systems into the arsenal of the Azerbaijan Army.

The Chairman of the Board meeting, Z. Hasanov, specifically noted the support of the leadership of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Security Service, and the Military Prosecutor's Office in preventing illegal actions and combating corruption in the service and combat activities of the Azerbaijan Army in 2025, as well as in organizing counter-intelligence, and brought to the attention of the board participants that joint measures taken in this direction will continue in the current year.

Subsequently, the service and combat activities carried out in the Azerbaijan Army during 2025 were thoroughly analyzed. It was noted that, as in previous years, the reforms in the field of army building under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief were resolutely continued in 2025.

Speakers at the Board meeting stated that military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army participated in 15 bilateral and multilateral international exercises during the past year. It was emphasized that as a result of conducting various types of military exercises and intensive combat training sessions, the combat capability of the troops, as well as the professional level of the personnel, has been further enhanced.

It was noted that special attention was paid to mobilization readiness in 2025, and significant steps were taken to improve the quality of mobilization reserves. Thus, during 2025, the knowledge and skills of over 19,000 military personnel of various specialties involved in training camps were improved, they were taught the rules for using newly adopted weapons and equipment, and practical exercises were conducted. It was stated that the work carried out in this direction will continue in 2026.

The engineering and fortification measures carried out in the liberated territories, the construction of new roads, as well as the work done towards creating military infrastructures, were brought to the attention of the board members. It was reported that during 2025, up to 79 km of new roads were built, up to 67 km of roads were cleared of snow, and over 571 km of roads were restored, jointly with Engineer-Fortification units and other state bodies.

It was noted that special importance was attached to issues of protecting and strengthening the health of personnel, increasing the effectiveness of practical exercises, and further strengthening discipline.

It was stated that in the Azerbaijan Army, the timely provision of troops with all types of material and technical resources in accordance with established norms, the organization of quality nutrition for personnel, and the constant readiness of weapons, armored and automotive equipment for combat application have been ensured. It was emphasized that military units are continuously supplied with missiles, ammunition, and other military equipment.

It was brought to attention that the measures taken to improve the social and living conditions of personnel, especially the creation of food, supplies, fuel, and firewood reserves in units located in high mountainous areas in accordance with norms, the full provision of military personnel with warm clothing, and generally the achievement of the goals set in the field of material and technical supply, were accomplished during the past year.

Subsequently, detailed information was provided about the innovations implemented in the military education system. It was stated that a number of new courses were established for military personnel with the aim of modernizing the military academic education system, and new specialties were opened to ensure compatibility between military registration specialties and higher education programs.

It was specifically emphasized at the meeting that the participation of representatives of the Azerbaijan Army in a number of academic and strategic courses both abroad and domestically had a positive impact on professional personnel training.

It was noted that a number of innovations were introduced in the field of personnel manning during the past year, and relevant structural changes were carried out in the Azerbaijan Army with the aim of optimizing staffing levels.

During the Board meeting, the opinions and proposals of officials regarding the results of 2025 and future plans were heard.

In his concluding speech, Colonel General Z. Hasanov stated that the service and combat activities of the Azerbaijan Army and the achievements made during the past year were highly appreciated by the Commander-in-Chief. He noted that international cooperation in military, military-technical, and military education fields, as well as joint exercises, are of great importance in ensuring sustainable peace and security in the region.

Referring to the activities planned for 2026, the Minister once again emphasized the importance of paying special attention to increasing the professionalism of personnel, further enhancing the combat readiness level of troops, increasing the intensity of training and field exercises, mastering and improving the efficient use of newly adopted weapons and equipment, as well as implementing innovative technologies.

Relevant instructions were given regarding a more responsible approach to the organization of combat duty and troop service with the aim of ensuring vigilance.

The necessity of strict adherence to fire safety and other safety rules during daily service activities in military units, and the strengthening of protective measures against seasonal respiratory viral infections due to the cooling weather in the winter season, was specifically noted.

The Minister of Defense instructed relevant officials to ensure strict control over the supply issues of the Azerbaijan Army units during winter months, to keep all types of reserves created in military units constantly under control, to further improve the service and social-living conditions of personnel, and to keep psychological and medical support issues in focus. It was brought to the attention of the board participants that relevant measures will be implemented in connection with the declaration of 2026 as the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture" based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the Board meeting, the Minister of Defense congratulated the personnel on February 14, Air Force Day. He expressed confidence that the Azerbaijan Army will continue to live up to the trust of the Commander-in-Chief and our people.
