The number of people killed by torrential rains in Brazil's Minas Gerais state has reached 30.
Modern.az reports that, according to CNN, another 39 people are missing.
The torrential rains caused floods and landslides in the state. The cities of Juiz de Fora and Ubá were the most affected. Approximately 440 people have been left homeless. 13 residents were rescued from under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
In total, 208 injured people were rescued and provided with necessary medical assistance.
As Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin previously stated, the country's authorities have deployed armed forces, including helicopters and military equipment, to search for and assist the victims.
Homeless residents will initially receive financial aid amounting to 800 Brazilian reals (approximately 155 dollars). The funds will be used by local authorities to purchase bedding, clothing, and food.
