The next meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences is being held.
Modern.az reports that the agenda of today's meeting included two issues - the expulsion of Ramiz Mehdiyev from full membership of ANAS and the hearing of his annual report. However, ANAS issued a statement today, declaring that R. Mehdiyev's issue will only be considered and a decision made after a verdict is pronounced against him.
At the meeting where innovations achieved in Azerbaijani science were discussed, members of the ANAS Presidium, heads of scientific institutions, and officials from various state bodies are participating. Annual report presentations are delivered at the meeting, and the scientific results of the past year and other issues on the agenda are brought to attention.
An interesting point, however, is the silence that prevailed in the hall during the meeting. Indeed, at the event where scientific topics were discussed, some participants, including scientists, were observed dozing off. This draws attention to the fact that the discussions were uninteresting and dull. (Qafqazinfo)
