A court hearing has been held on the criminal case of Elvin Mammadov, born in 1996, who is accused of murdering a resident of the Bülbülə settlement in a mosque in Baku.

Modern.az reports that in the proceedings held under the chairmanship of Judge Azer Taghiyev at the Baku Court for Grave Crimes, after the investigation materials were examined, it was announced that the judicial investigation had concluded.

At the end of his speech, the victim's lawyer filed a motion requesting the questioning of additional witnesses in court.

During the proceedings, it also became known that the aggrieved party has no complaints against the accused.

The completion of the judicial investigation and the announcement of the verdict are expected at the next session scheduled for March 5.

It should be noted that on July 26, 2025, at approximately 5 AM, information was received by the Surakhani District Prosecutor's Office regarding the murder of Nadir Safarov, born in 1990, at the Imamzadeh mosque located in the Bülbülə settlement.

During the investigation, it was determined that Elvin Mammadov murdered Nadir Safarov, who was sleeping in the prayer room, by stabbing him 38 times with a knife. On the same day, Elvin Mammadov was detained by employees of the 31st Police Department.

He was formally charged by the Surakhani District Prosecutor's Office under Articles 120.2.2 (premeditated murder with hooligan intent), 120.2.4 (premeditated murder with particular cruelty), and 120.2.9 (premeditated murder of a helpless person) of the Criminal Code.
