Today, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Aragchi.
According to information provided to Modern.az by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the telephone conversation, the situation arising from military operations in Iran and military escalation in the region was discussed.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran provided information on the current situation and the steps taken.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed serious concern over the tragic escalation of the situation in the region. He conveyed condolences regarding the deaths of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and innocent civilians.
Hope was expressed that military operations would cease soon, and that the current situation would be resolved only through dialogue and diplomatic means, in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that it is not possible for the territory of Azerbaijan to be used by any country against neighboring and friendly Iran.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
