How many Azerbaijani missing persons are there? - State Committee REVEALED

The number of Azerbaijanis missing as a result of Armenia's military aggression has been announced.

In response to an inquiry from Modern.az, the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons reported that, according to information as of 01.01.2026, a total of 4004 individuals have been registered as missing persons by the Commission.

According to the information, 3998 of the missing persons disappeared during the First Karabakh War, and 6 persons went missing during the 44-day Second Karabakh War that occurred in 2020.

It was noted that 3223 of the missing persons are military personnel, and 781 are civilians.

Among the civilians, 71 are underage children, 287 are women, and 319 are elderly persons.

The State Commission also brought to attention that work is continuing towards clarifying the fate of the missing persons.
