New grounds for state acquisition of investment have been approved in Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed an amendment to the law "On Investment Activity" in this regard.
With the new amendment, a new ground for state acquisition of investment has been defined. This is the state acquisition of investments in relation to strategically important investments, with the aim of preventing exceptional circumstances that harm the interests of the Azerbaijani state and people or contradict Azerbaijan's national interests.
Thus, the legal basis for the state acquisition of strategically important investments, with the aim of preventing exceptional circumstances that harm the interests of the Azerbaijani state and people or contradict Azerbaijan's national interests, has been formed. For this purpose, the acquisition of investments will be carried out in the general manner, i.e., by paying compensation to investors in exchange for the state acquisition of investments.
Furthermore, for the aforementioned purpose, the state acquisition of strategically important investments will be carried out in accordance with Azerbaijani laws.
