The Embassy of Latvia in Baku condemned the strikes carried out by Iran today with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the territory of Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Modern.az reports that this was stated in a post by Latvia's diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan on the social network "X".

"The Embassy of Latvia in Azerbaijan strongly condemns the UAV attacks in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which resulted in damage to the airport and injuries to civilians, constituting a violation of international law principles. We express our solidarity with Azerbaijan and reaffirm our support for peace and security in the region", the diplomatic mission stated.

It should be recalled that on March 5, unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iranian territory attacked objects in Nakhchivan. One of the drones fell on the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school building in Shakarabad village. Four civilians were injured as a result of the airport attack. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilu, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan declared that it reserves the right to retaliate.
