"The post on social networks about the alleged deployment of heavy weapons belonging to the Azerbaijani Army to the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the Islamic Republic of Iran is an information manipulation with deliberately distorted content."
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the announcement of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDIA).
The statement says:
"The presentation of that image, which reflects the process of military equipment relocation in January of this year, as a new “fact” with misleading statements, aims to confuse public opinion.
We strongly condemn such information provocations aimed at creating panic by manipulating information during ongoing military operations in the Middle East.
We remind that disseminating information about the movement or dislocation of personnel, military weapons, ammunition, or military equipment of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces carries criminal liability.
Against the backdrop of regional tension, the dissemination of inaccurate and unverified information on social networks is aimed at increasing the risk of disinformation and creating confusion in society.
Media entities must demonstrate high professionalism in relation to the information flow on social networks, refer only to official sources, and refrain from disseminating content that is of dubious origin or manipulative in nature."
