Although Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that its territory will not be used in any military operations against Iran, on March 5, the mullah regime attacked Nakhchivan with drones. It has been established by technical means that four unmanned aerial vehicles were directed by the Iranian Armed Forces to carry out attack acts towards Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan region.
In a statement to Modern.az, Kamil Aydın, a deputy from the Nationalist Movement Party of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), stated that Azerbaijan and Turkey call on the parties to end the attacks as soon as possible during the holy month:
"Unfortunately, we are witnessing an increase in the intensity and geographical impact of attacks on Iran, jointly carried out by the US and Israel approximately a week ago. It is clear that these events in our region have very negative impacts not only globally but especially for the countries of the region. The Republic of Turkey and the state of Azerbaijan are at the forefront of these negative impacts. Furthermore, we are witnessing attempts, efforts, and attacks aimed at making the situation more complex, multifaceted, and multinational. However, both the friendly and brotherly state of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey, which possesses strong state structures and traditions, assess the situation calmly and cautiously, always prioritizing peace, tranquility, and brotherhood. They call on the parties to come to the table as soon as possible to end their attacks during these blessed days and offer mediation to achieve this. Nevertheless, we witnessed malicious intentions to draw Turkey and Azerbaijan into this bloody scenario, such as the rockets that fell on Hatay province on our southern border and the subsequent missile attacks on Nakhchivan Airport and a school in Azerbaijan on March 5. Naturally, immediately thereafter, both our President and President Ilham Aliyev openly and unequivocally summoned Iranian officials and embassy representatives, demanding an explanation. Following these meetings, an apology was issued, it was stated that the missiles were not launched by Iran, and thus, the attempts at trap and provocation failed. Iran was informed that if such attempts recur, both brotherly countries, especially in light of bilateral defense agreements, will respond clearly and unequivocally".
K. Aydın emphasized that the position of the Nationalist Movement Party on the issue is clear:
"As the Nationalist Movement Party, in light of our chairman's clear stance and views on this matter, we unequivocally state the following: Any attempt at harassment, aggression, or attack against Azerbaijan will be considered an attack against us, against Turkey, therefore no one should make such a miscalculation. We said this yesterday, and we reiterate it today. We state very clearly and unequivocally that no one will be able to trap Turkey and Azerbaijan in this ugly snare, and we stand firmly behind these decisions. Our government in Turkey, ourselves, and many political parties in parliament share this view. Therefore, since what is done to Azerbaijan is done to us, and what is done to us is done to Azerbaijan, it is our firm wish and belief that no one, whoever they may be, should make such a miscalculation. I believe that this position will give Iran some pause before attempting such actions in the future".
