Iran's new Supreme Leader will be elected soon.

Modern.az reports that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated this in a statement to NBC television channel.

He said that Iran will not allow the US or anyone else to interfere in the process of electing the new leader.

Previously, US President Donald Trump had stated that he should have a say in the election of Iran's new Supreme Leader.

"We do not allow anyone to interfere in our internal affairs. The Assembly of Experts will handle this matter. This is solely the business of the Iranian people, and no one else's," the Iranian minister stated.

Araqchi also stated that the election of Iran's new Supreme Leader will take place soon.

"A Provisional Leadership Council has been established and is performing its functions during the absence of the leader, while the new Supreme Leader will soon be elected by the Assembly of Experts," Araqchi stated.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. Tel Aviv stated that the purpose of the strikes was to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Trump, in turn, stated his intention to destroy Iran's navy and defense industry and called on the country's citizens to overthrow the regime. On February 28, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other leading figures were killed.
