US President Donald Trump commented on Mojtaba Khamenei's election as Iran's new Supreme Leader.
Modern.az reports that Fox News host Brian Kilmeade spoke with US President Donald Trump after Mojtaba Khamenei was announced as Iran's new Supreme Leader.
According to the journalist, Trump responded to a question about Khamenei by saying, "I am not pleased with the choice."
Donald Trump called Mojtaba Khamenei a "lightweight" individual and reiterated that he would not accept a candidate who would continue the previous leader's policies.
Trump stated that such an appointment could lead to a new war. He once again insisted on US involvement in the election of Iran's Supreme Leader.
Mojtaba Khamenei is 57 years old. He is Iran's third Supreme Leader. President Masoud Pezeshkian called his appointment a step towards strengthening national unity.
Mojtaba's father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, led Iran for 37 years. He died on February 28 as a result of an Israeli airstrike on his residence in Tehran. Ali Khamenei was 86 years old.
